The code below is giving me the SIGSEGV error, segmentation fault at line number 66(found using debugger).According to me everything is fine but still don't know what is done wrong by me. Please someone help me out to sort the problem
I'm not sure if it's ethical to help with one's homework. And to be honest, all real programmers learnt their first valuable lesson by tracking down a seg fault, you probably shall not let people take away this chance from you – miushock Mar 9 '14 at 17:35. Also note that the point at which an error manifests doesn't mean that exact line is the root cause. Sometimes the line pointed out by a debugger is wholly unrelated to the problem.
Program Received Signal Sigsegv Segmentation Fault Dev C Version
Since it appears this error can be reproduced in a debugger, step through your code and work back from the point it happens. Check your data, check your indexes, make sure that everything looks kosher memory-wise until you find a problem.
Gdb Program Received Signal Sigsegv
You really really need to learn to use functions.
And you need to start using more meaningful variable names (names that actually describe their purpose). And you really should avoid using variables like 'l' (lower case L), 'O' (upper case o) as these variables can be hard to distingush between 1 (one) and 0 (Zero). You also seem to have forgot that the operator= is the assignment operator, your using it in places where you should be using the comparison operator. If it is crashing as soon as you start the debugger the debugger should point you to the line where the problem is detected. Did you try to set a breakpoint early in the program and then single step through the program? If you can't figure out the debugger you should try putting output statements at various parts of the program so you can start to tell how far the program is running before it crashes. Since your only function is so large I suggest you put a output statement at the first line, then probably about every 30 lines there after. All the output needs to be at this point is something like 'I'm at line 1', with the number reflecting the current line and be sure to flush the output after every output. Comments are closed.
